The first trailer for Mark Mill’s new A24 drama C’Mon C’mon promises a story of love and loss between Joaquin Phoenix and his young nephew.
A24 have released the first trailer for their upcoming new drama C’mon C’mon. Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Mike Mills (Beginners and 20th Century Women), the black and white film follows Joaquin Phoenix’s radio journalist Johnny who is left to take care of his nephew Jesse (Woody Norman) on behalf of his sister, Viv (Gaby Hoffmann). The film will see the pair form an unexpectedly close bond as they undertake a cross country road trip.
Mills is known for his romantic-comedies that simultaneously carry deal of emotional weight. Alongside his filmmaking, which includes producing music videos for the likes of Yoko Ono and Air, Mills is an accomplished photographer and artist and his artistic eye frequently translates into his films. While C’mon C’mon marks the director’s first true drama, his past comedy experience will undoubtedly allow him to bring a great deal of brevity to the film that will balance nicely with the emotional heft of the subject matter.
