Daniel Craig reveals he didn’t know about the existence of his Weeknd meme, taken from the SNL episode in which he introduces the singer.
Daniel Craig admitted he had no idea about the existence of a viral meme that uses his likeness. The meme comes from the March 7th, 2020, episode of Saturday Night Live, in which Craig hosted and The Weeknd was the musical guest. It was the second time the Bond actor hosted SNL. Craig first appeared on the show in October of 2012, ahead of the premiere of Skyfall—his third Bond film—later that month. Craig’s meme revelation comes a week before the wide release of No Time to Die, the actor’s fifth and final appearance as James Bond.
One of the longest-running television programs in the U.S., Saturday Night Live first premiered in 1975 and has since become a cultural touchstone, providing laugh-out-loud commentary on contemporary culture and politics. Traditionally, the host of each episode introduces that night’s musical guest. When Craig hosted an episode of season 45, his lackadaisical introduction of The Weeknd immediately went viral.
