Marvel’s What If…? may have just confirmed that Star Wars is part of the MCU multiverse. The Disney+ animated series, which imagines how the Infinity Saga may have changed if one element in it panned out differently, is on its final stretch before wrapping up season 1. While previous outings have contained narratives, What If…? episode 8 marked the show’s first time to have a serialized storytelling as it functioned as a supplementary story to Party Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) previous arc.

Titled “What If… Ultron Won?,” the latest episode of the Marvel Studios series used the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron as a jumping point for its narrative. As the title suggested, it imagined an MCU where Ultron (Ross Marquand) was able to accomplish his goal of wiping out all life on Earth, leaving the Avengers defeated. But, the series further pushed it, showing the villain scouring the galaxy and killing all living beings that he encountered. Once he was done, the realization of the multiverse’s existence motivated him to also subject other realities to the same fate.
