Morbius star Jared Leto hypes the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The sequel to 2018’s Venom is directed by Andy Serkis and scheduled for wide release on October 1. Morbius, which is to be set in the same universe as the Venom films, is slated to premiere January 28, 2022.
Leto’s film will be the third released as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which builds a continuity of films based around the friendly neighborhood hero and other associated Marvel characters. Though Tom Holland currently plays Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony retains the rights to the character, and their agreement with Marvel Studios stipulates that he eventually be shared between the two universes. So far, however, the films under this banner have been focused around more villainous characters from the Spider-Man comics, with a Kraven the Hunter movie also currently in the works.
The franchise’s second installment is just about to hit theaters, and Leto is clearly excited. The Morbius actor took to twitter to drum up some excitement for Venom: Let There Be Carnage amongst his followers by sharing the film’s poster and release date, as well as a winking caption.
