Sony Pictures unveils a new clip for Venom: Let There Be Carnage highlighting the film’s action and new Eminem track featured in the sequel. The first Venom hit theaters in 2018 starring Tom Hardy as disgraced investigative journalist Eddie Brock as he becomes the host to the titular alien symbiote and must utilize his new superpowers to prevent more of Venom’s race from invading Earth. The film was largely a critical failure but was well-received by fans and became a surprise box office hit, grossing over $856 million against its estimated $116 million budget and prompting Sony to press on with its Spider-Man Universe plans.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage picks up three years after the first film as Eddie looks to revitalize his journalistic career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady, introduced in the post-credits of the first film with Woody Harrelson. However, things go awry as Kasady becomes the human host to the dangerous symbiote Carnage and breaks free with the super-powered human Shriek. The sequel has seen its release date shifted numerous times due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, though will finally arrive in theaters this week.
