The news that Jamie Lee Curtis will play Madame Leota in 2023’s The Haunted Mansion is fantastic for fans of the horror genre. 2022 has been a great year for horror and, judging by the projects that have been announced so far, it looks like 2023 will be no different. 2023 will see the arrival of numerous major horror movies as well as some choice horror-comedy titles, including a Disney+ reboot of The Haunted Mansion.

Released in 2003, The Haunted Mansion was an Eddie Murphy family comedy. The Haunted Mansion saw the comedian play a harried estate agent who got more than bargained for when he brought his family to visit the run-down and thoroughly ghost-ridden eponymous manor. While not as critically or commercially successful as the same year’s other Disneyland ride adaptation, the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, The Haunted Mansion was successful enough to prompt a reboot twenty years after its release.
